Had to have it. It's one of those rare rides that you either love or hate. No in-betweens. Regardless, it WILL catch your attention when it rumbles by. Originally, it came with a 171ci "straight 6-cylinder" engine. The transmission was a very rare C2 Fordamatic 2-speed. Add in the bronze/gold paint job, bench seats & 13 inch tires w/baby-moon hubcaps... & you had "Grandpas' grocery getter". Had to modify it. Hated to mess with a "classic", but... well... it needed some personality. I gave it a V-8, 14 inch tires up front, 15 inch tires in the back... & a name. Not to mention... plenty of personality... ______________ Maimed Fully Dead (Well, not finished... will it ever be?) |
I once knew a wandering soul who found his way through Hell. His time is gone, yet
the name lives on, enshrined in Detroit steel... |
Final note: I'm the 3rd owner of this machine. The first owner had a heart attack
behind the wheel... he died in the car. The second owner was also the owner of
the salvage yard north of San Diego where I bought it. I made the purchase and
returned a week later to load the car up. That's when I was told by the owners'
son that his Dad (the man I bought the car from) had been crushed under the car
while trying to put tires on it for me. So... both of the previous owners died
in or around the car. Cursed? Maybe. Properly named? You bet. |
